Since returning from Ghana, I often find my self listening to my favourite song "Track 12" as the CD calls it, "I know" as I call it, or "Ahayede" as it's actually called. I just learned the real name today! Found it on youtube as I watched/listened to a classic Ruff n Smooth song, "Sex Machine"

Celebration Post!
My 2 papers have been handed in. This means that I only have one more assignment left...statistics midterm (friday).

Since it's all done, I've treated myself to 2 bars from second cup next door. The cheesecake brownie (fac) and the kahlua bar (never had before, but I'm impressed!) as well as an orange juice!

Im now sitting down to enjoy them while watching Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. They're drinking their polyjuice potions to become some of the Slytherin kids. I would turn myself into Joy and hide in her room so she freaks out when she gets home from class. If only I was a witch.

screw greek.
new craving:
I was just on my old blog. I haven't been on it in ages, but it makes me so happy to go back and see it. I just  was looking at the stats and had a GREAT laugh at the fact that "spirit of over eating" is a search keyword that brings you to my blog. I'm so proud of myself right now. Sad, but true.

get me to the greek

I just finished reading over margie's blog. I love it when she posts new things, so exciting! Anyways, she had posted a blog about greek food, which has now caused me to wish I was on my second dinner (greek food). I live in greek town and love greek food, I've grown up eating it for as long as I can remember. I love most of the standard greek items. Souvlaki, saganaki, gyros, spanakopita, loukoumades. YUM. It's funny because earlier today when I was on the Danforth with my cousin, we had a discussion about our favourite greek restaurants. Mine are: Square Boys, Messini's and Pantheon. I wanna say in that order, but that may not be 100% true. This is the first weekend I've come home and not had any greek food...I may go into withdrawl.
These pictures are going to have to get me through it, because Guelph "greek" does not meet my needs.

I was just recently accepted as an ambassador for an organization called Operation Groundswell (OG). I'm SO excited! All this means is that I have now forced myself to stay a part of this organization, yay! It's a pretty small organization, but its growing like crazy! This past summer I was a part of their newest medical trip to Ghana in West Africa. It was the most amazing time of my entire life, read below (right). If anyone wants to go on an amazing trip to Africa, Asia, India, Middle East, or Guatemala, then def check out OG!

I want a tattoo of this tree:

the original baobob
thinner stump than this one
Betsey tends to be a bit outrageous for me to handle on a day-to-day basis, but i actually LOVE this:
Ever since I was little and had to go shopping with my fam (mom and aunt), I have loved banana republic. I think its because everything they have is cute but age appropriate, classy but fun, etc. Its like the type of outfit you can wear to work and then change it up later and wear it out. I love it.
I was recently looking at their spring 2011 rtw and heres some favs:

GAH!

I'm watching the vice guide to travel: Liberia. It's a documentary basically about war in Liberia. Its so terrifying but SO great. These men went to Liberia to interview war lords and see the worst parts of Liberia. Here are some facts from the movie:
-4th poorest country in the world
-70% of women have been raped
-80% of the population is unemployed
- used to be called "small america"

This kind of thing makes me so sad. When I was in Ghana we often talked about war in African countries. A girl from my trip, Caroline, is from Nigera but went to school at Ryerson (she's now transferred to med school in Ghana...) and she said it best. She just said that it's possible to fix these countries that are almost ruined by war and poverty. Look at Ghana right now, it's politically stable, safe  not too high levels of HIV. Its really turning itself around and a lot of it has to do with the politics. These countries ar so politically unstable and even if the elect someone who has the ability to turn things around, if the ex war lords don't like him they can just kill him. Its too corrupt. These people in power run everything and until that changes, I don't think its possible to fix anything.

sorry this kinda doesnt make sense because im wtaching a bit while writing

So, apparently the UN is supposed to leave Liberia in a year and when that happens the Liberians say that war will break out. They have their armies and weapons ready. If this is the case, why are people not more aware of this and trying to do things? Scaryyyy
